About the Event

Greece’s correctional system, like many across Europe, faces ongoing challenges in balancing public safety, rehabilitation, and fairness in judicial decision-making. In this context, the FAIR-PReSONS project explores how artificial intelligence can be used responsibly and ethically to support more transparent and gender-sensitive approaches to recidivism prediction.

The Multiplier Event in Mytilene offers a unique opportunity to bring together Greek policymakers, correctional system representatives, legal professionals, and researchers to discuss how data-driven tools can be meaningfully integrated into real-world justice settings.

Special attention will be given to the Greek context of recidivism, prison data availability, and legal-ethical safeguards, ensuring that AI-based solutions are not only technically robust but also socially responsible and aligned with national legal frameworks and European standards.

Through presentations of project findings and open discussion, the event aims to foster a shared understanding of how Greece can move toward more evidence-based, fair, and accountable correctional practices, while safeguarding human rights and avoiding algorithmic bias.
