The University of the Aegean (UAEGEAN), a dynamic hub of research and innovation, brings a wealth of expertise to this partnership. With a proven track record of successful collaborations across diverse sectors, the University has consistently secured funding and produced high-quality research outputs. The Intelligent Systems Lab (i-Lab), specializing in intelligent and knowledge-based systems, will leverage its expertise in Cultural and Social Informatics, Artificial Intelligence, and Knowledge Representation to advance research on AI-based Recidivism prediction, AI bias assessment and mitigation, data collection/analysis (in Greece), and semantic data annotation and LOD.

Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH)

Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH), a leading regional institution in Greece, boasts a long and distinguished history in European integration studies. The Law School, a pioneer in teaching European Law since 1977, is home to renowned faculty, including former members of the European Court of Justice. The Jean Monnet Chair awarded in 2016 further solidifies DUTH’s commitment to European studies, fostering impactful research and educational programs. This rich tradition, coupled with the expertise of its 550 professors and vast student body, uniquely positions DUTH to contribute significantly to the project. DUTH and its research lab specializes in criminology related sciences.

Center for the Study of Democracy- CSD (BG)
The Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) in Sofia, Bulgaria, is a distinguished interdisciplinary policy research institute with over two decades of experience in fundamental rights projects. As Bulgaria’s national focal point for the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights’ FRANET network, CSD provides invaluable research on fundamental rights issues, including digital rights and AI. They’ve actively contributed to shaping national AI policy and possess vast expertise in conducting studies, training, and awareness-raising activities on various fundamental rights topics.
